Cloud Backup & Disaster Recovery for Orlando Small Businesses — Notes from the Field
We spend a lot of time looking at how SMBs actually handle their data. Most of what we find is scarier than the sales decks suggest it should be.
Here is what we see repeatedly when we look at how small and mid-size businesses in the Orlando area handle their data: a shared drive, a sync folder pointed at OneDrive or Google Drive, maybe a NAS with a scheduled task that someone set up four years ago and nobody has verified since. These arrangements feel like backup. They are not backup in any meaningful operational sense, because nobody has defined what recovery looks like, nobody has tested whether recovery works, and nobody has thought through what happens when the sync folder or the NAS is in the same room as the server that just failed. We profile providers to give Orlando SMB owners a more grounded basis for evaluating their options. This issue covers Dytech Group, an Oviedo-based managed-IT firm that has been doing this work in Central Florida since 1982.
We do not have a commercial relationship with Dytech Group. Nobody paid for this writeup. We looked at their service offering, talked to people familiar with their work, and wrote down what we found. Draw your own conclusions. For an engagement directly with the Oviedo-headquartered backup and disaster recovery provider profiled here, see the Dytech cloud and backup services page.
About the Provider
Dytech Group has been running in Oviedo since 1982 — which in managed IT is a genuinely long track record. The company is family-owned and operates out of 257 Plaza Dr, Ste. D, Oviedo, FL 32765, within easy reach of the Orlando metro and the Seminole County business corridor. Their client base tends to run toward regulated verticals: law offices, healthcare and dental practices, construction companies, accounting firms, insurance agencies, non-profits. Those are businesses where data is both the primary work product and the subject of specific legal retention requirements. Dytech serves the Orlando area and broader Central Florida. Phone is (407) 678-8300, email is info@dytech.com. They have been around long enough to have managed clients through real regional disasters, which matters when you are evaluating whether a provider understands what actual recovery looks like.
